The Research Collection

Research, 2015

This collection is emerged from my research in Cornwall back in 2011. I completed a field trip to learn more about the production of china clay and stumbled upon dozens of other mines such as copper and tin. All of them left a remarkable footprint in the landscape by piles of colored material. After collecting the materials I started to make hundreds of tests and color samples. A process in where I started to get to know all the qualities and characteristics of each color.
By treating materials as paint and using them to color porcelain, I developed a color chart with about 220 different colors. Different materials originating from the china, tin, copper, silver and lead industry in Cornwall were used to form the basis for this chart. After finishing all the research in 2015 I developed this collection in where I used the developed colors as a ‘Ceramic Paint’.
